All hail Rudd!!

It's official, Australia has a new leader.

After eleven years of John Howard the country has spoken, and it's not happy.

Let's hope the union's don't now run this country into the ground!!

If unfamiliar with the new Prime Minister of Australia, take a look at him in above clip. He's a great man!

Music - Ella Hooper

Was supposed to go see Ella Hooper and her brother Jesse (both former members of Killing Heidi) perform tonight at Ruby's Lounge.
Unfortunately have come down with something and was forced to miss it.
Should have been good though.

What's On - DVD

Have just finished watching Season 1 of Life On Mars.

This is one of the best cop shows I have ever seen and I can't wait til I get Season 2.

It is about Manchester police detective, Sam Tyler, who is hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. He spends the series trying to figure out if he is dreaming or if it is in fact real.

In 1973 he is also a detective for the police and must try to work with the police of the time and adjust to all their archaic ways.

Brilliantly written, brilliantly cast and a killer soundtrack, this is definately one to enjoy. 5 out of 5

Finger In The Chewy - 3:10 To Yuma

I've just recently gotten back from America where I saw the western film, 3:10 To Yuma.

Review: I have been enjoying everything that i've seen of Christian Bale until now. I don't think it was bad acting on his part, it just wasn't an exciting film.
3:10 to Yuma is apparently a remake of a film made before I was born. It is a western about a down on his luck war veteran (Bale) who has to escort notorious outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) to the town of Yuma.
Too much of the film in my mind is spent setting up the events that lead to the two's journey than actually on the journey (which in the end turns out to be a little boring in itself).

Do not be confused, if you liked the TV series Deadwood, that doesn't mean you're a western fan. 3:10 to Yuma never reaches the highs captured in Deadwood and does little in creating the adversarial atmosphere that to me was Deadwood's trademark.

I did enjoy the beginning of the climax where Bale's character is faced against a whole town, but felt that that concept could have been expanded on.
And i will try not to give away the ending, but to me it was very incomprehensible. I'm still not sure why it ended that way.
Anyway 2 out of 5 from me.

Welcome one, Welcome all

Welcome everyone to The Last Word. I you're host will endeavour to keep you posted on all that is entertaining and intriguing in the world. With a particular emphasis on Music, Film, Television and Books.
I'm Australian, so i do apologize if on occasion there is an Australian flavor to my posts. But credit where credit is due. Australian's will only get a mention if they are worthy of getting a mention. Below are a couple of topics that will never feature on this blog....

Paris Hilton
Jimmy Barnes
CSI
Ben Stiller (Zoolander and everything before it may get mention but nothing after)
The Office (American version) (I cringe that i even have to state 'American version')
Now that i mention it, American version's of anything British
Coldplay

If you can live with never hearing about these topics then this is the place for you.
But enough of me gas bagging, let's get into the reviews and stories (which will hopefully be several a day, at least one).

Regards J.
